Pokémon Trading Card Game Live receives official global release - Log-in any time over the next 9 weeks to receive a Chien-Pao ex deck
While today's release has been described as a worldwide launch, Bulbagarden users across several countries, particularly in Asia, have reported that they do not yet have access to the game, despite that they were previously able to use the old Pokémon Trading Card Online software without any problems. For affected users, attempting to log into the game simply returns the player to the login screen with a 10010 error. During the beta, this error code was associated with players attempting to log in from a country where the beta had not yet been made available. At this point, it's not clear if this is simply a case of launch day woes, or if players in certain regions, particularly those that typically receive releases in-line with the Japanese releases instead of the global releases, may be permanently locked out.
Pokémon Trading Card Game Live is a free-to-play app that will serve as a replacement to the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, allowing players to enjoy the Pokémon Trading Card Game in an updated digital format. The game includes all the basic activities like building and customizing decks and player avatars, as well as gameplay modes and daily quests for all types of players, regardless of their skill level. The app currently features cards from the Sun & Moon Series through to Scarlet & Violet - Paldea Evolved, with plans to extend back to the XY and Black & White Series in the future. Players around the world can access the Pokémon TCG Live on mobile devices via the App Store and Google Play, or download it for PC and Mac. The app is currently available in six languages: English, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Pokémon TCG Live initially opened in Beta to players from Canada on February 22nd 2022, and was later opened to players in Mexico on May 24th 2022. The beta was further extended to players in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th 2022, and to Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden from October 18th 2022.
Active development on the previous Pokémon TCG Online software ceased as of March 1st this year. Pokémon TCG online was officially sunsetted earlier this month, and the game's servers have now been permanently shut down. Players of the old Pokémon TCG Online app are able to migrate their account and game data to the new Pokémon TCG Live app, using their Pokémon Trainer Club accounts. More information on what is transferred to Pokémon TCG Live can be found in the official FAQ here.
